Harold Roy Van Sickle, 98, of Billings, rose to a new life on Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at home, in the loving arms of his wife of 71 years.

Harry was born a twin on Feb. 3, 1920, to Guy R. and Hilda A. Van Sickle in Minot, North Dakota, where he was raised and educated. Harry married Violet A. Brand on Sept. 16, 1946.

Harry proudly served his country in WWII in Europe, spending 13 years serving in both the Army and the Air Force.

Harry and Vi moved to Montana, where Harry was a traveling sales rep for building supplies. Harry and Vi enjoyed living in Havre, Great Falls and Billings while raising their three daughters. They made many lifelong friends throughout the state. They enjoyed many years worshipping at Faith E Church.

Harry felt tremendous pride participating in the first Big Sky Honor Flight to Washington, D.C., in June of 2012.

Harry enjoyed traveling, fishing, golfing, friends and, most of all, family. In early March of this year, his 102-year-old brother Neil made the long trip from Whitefish to see Harry one last time. It was a special reunion and meant so much to Dad.

Harry is survived by his wife, Violet of Billings; daughters Joleen (Bob) Burch of Kalispell, Becky (Jerry) Wood of Layton, Utah, and Lugene (Dan) Turcotte of Billings; 12 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; his brother Neil of Whitefish; sisters-in-law Dorothy Van Sickle, Jean Van Sickle, Gladys Brand and brother-in-law Ben Brand; and numerous nieces and nephews who often referred to Harry as a "favorite uncle." Harry was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother Edith; five brothers, Paul, Bruce, Gerry (twin), Ross, Earl; sister Grace; and stepsister Mary Jane.

Special thanks to the wonderful nursing staff at Westpark Village, Senior Independence Hospice and Dr. Ang for your tender care of Dad and us.

A memorial service will be held on Father's Day weekend in Billings.

We love you so much, Dad, and are so thankful we had you for 98 years!
