Helen Snow Rogers Jamison, age 104, passed away on April 4, 2016, in Billings. She was born on Sept. 19, 1911, on her grandparents' farm near Beach, N.D., to Arthur and Mamie E. Snow, who had come to Montana to prove up on a homestead. After the untimely death of her father, the family lived in Tacoma, Wash., before returning to the homestead. When her mother married again to George Fountain, she spent happy times on the Fountain Brothers Ranch in McCone County, which, at the time, was the largest horse ranch in the world, supplying horses to the army for WWI. The stories she told of living in a sod house, seeing the herds of horses and riding in a new car with isinglass curtains are legendary.

Helen graduated from Circle High School in 1933. After attending Billings Business College, she worked for the County Recorder's Office in Circle and at the Gladstone Hotel and Fountain Cafe.

Helen married Roy Rogers in 1930 and they had two sons, Gary and Bruce. Helen later married Paul Jamison and they moved to Billings, where Helen worked for the Bureau of Land Management for 25 years.

Not a birthday or a Christmas went by without a well-chosen, well-wrapped package from Helen. She valued each and every member of her family. Family gatherings always included recounting stories from the event-filled century in which she lived. She loved reading, roses, politics and listening to the world news.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather; a brother, Arthur; her son, Gary Rogers; and her husband, Paul Jamison.

Helen is survived by her daughter-in-law, Joy Rogers of Billings; her son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Kathy Rogers of Bountiful, Utah; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; her sister, Mary LaRowe; and several nieces and nephews.

Many would aspire to be as well-read, well-informed, well-dressed, well-organized, generous, fun-loving and well-loved as Helen Jamison.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 9, at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary, 1001 Alderson Ave.

Memorials may be made to the Montana Rescue Mission, 2800 Minnesota Ave., Billings, MT 59102.
