Our loving mother and prayer warrior, Hilda Margaret Nolte, 93, went home peacefully to be with the Lord on Monday, March 19, 2012. Although she will be missed, she longed to be with her Savior, and now joins her late husband, Glen Ormandy Nolte, at the throne of God.

Hilda was born on Jan. 23, 1919, in Kowdenhook, Holland, the only daughter of William and Nellie Lohof. The Lohof family immigrated to America when Hilda was 2, finally settling in Billings.

Hilda was a 1938 graduate of Northwest Nazarene College in Nampa, Idaho, where she met Glen Nolte, the son of a doctor who was also attending the college, on Feb. 21, 1939. The couple married a year later and honeymooned at Sun Valley and, for a short time, lived in Nampa, where Glen owned a grocery store that he sold before moving to Billings.

The couple was married for 62 years and, for most of those years, owned and operated Rimrock Lodge, that, at one time, was the largest motel in Montana. Glen passed away in March 2002, and Hilda continued to live in the family home above Rimrock Road, where she arose daily to pray for family, friends, country and community, developing a reputation as a prayer warrior. She was a loyal member of Faith Chapel that both Glen and Hilda attended from the church's earliest beginnings when pastors Stan and Ginger Simmons started their ministry in Billings. And, for more than two decades, Hilda was a faithful volunteer at St. Vincent Healthcare, the hospital she loved.

Beside her strong faith in Jesus, Hilda was a joyful Christian, always positive and loving. She sent birthday and thank you cards to virtually thousands of people over her lifetime, keeping the U.S. Postal Service in Billings busy. She was a prodigious knitter who won many blue ribbons at the county fair.

Hilda had a life well lived and leaves thousands of friends and admirers.

She is survived by her four children, Robert (Sharon), Charles (Janet), Julie Ann Lemm (Bill) and William (Mary); 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 24, at Faith Chapel, with burial and a reception at the church to follow.

Memorials may be given to Clydehurst Christian Ranch, 328 S. Shiloh Road, Suite 1, Billings, MT 59106.

Please share your remembrance with others. After review you memory will be posted to this page and shared with the family.
