Irene Francis Slotsve

Irene Francis Slotsve, 81 of Billings, passed away Friday, January 13, 2017 at Canyon Creek Memory Care while surrounded by her family and loved ones.

Born October 29, 1935 in Atholl, South Dakota, Irene was the daughter of Donald and Marie Brown. The family moved to Billings when Irene was a child and ran a small farm on the West end of Billings. Donald worked for the railroad and Marie took care of the farm and the children.

Irene met Russell Slotsve when she was in high school. They dated until Russell enlisted in the Army during the Korean Conflict. After his discharge, Russ and Irene married on September 7, 1957. Russell went back to college at the University of Montana in Missoula to complete his degree and their first son, Scott was born. After college Russ and Irene settled in Billings where their second son, Doug, was born.

Irene spent her time taking care of the house and the children and Russell was involved in the automotive business.

Russ and Irene enjoyed socializing and traveling, taking many trips overseas and socializing with friends and neighbors on a regular basis. Their trips included destinations such as Spain, Norway, and Rio de Janeiro.

Irene is survived by her sons, Scott, his wife Julie and their children, Erik and Kelsy, and Doug, his wife Gail and their children Jack Russell and Kendra. She is also survived by her sisters, Luella Preuninger and Lois Berry and her brother Tom Brown.

She was preceded in death by her husband Russ in 1996.

The family would like to thank the staffs of Aspen Meadows and Canyon Creek Memory care for the care and support they provided to Irene and the family.

Visitation will be 5-7pm Thursday at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary. The Funeral Mass will be 11am Friday, January 20th at St. Pius X Church. Rite of Committal will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.
