Iris Mae (Zody) Dobson, 90, of Billings, formerly of Glendive, died peacefully at Avantara Billings on Monday morning, June 24, 2019.
Iris was born on Dec. 3, 1928, to Cecil and Ruth (Moore) Zody in Glendive. She grew up on the family farm near Bloomfield, Montana. She graduated from high school at Dawson County High School in 1947. She married Phil Dobson on June 7, 1947, in Glendive. Iris and Phil were blessed with six children. They raised their children in Glendive. Iris moved to Billings in 2002 and lived there until her death.
Iris enjoyed raising her children and later babysitting her grandchildren. She loved children so much that, while raising her six kids, she taught Sunday School every Sunday at the Glendive Evangelical Church. Iris had a strong faith in God and was often found reading her Bible. Iris enjoyed gardening. She raised a vegetable and flower garden every year while living in Glendive. She is remembered as a wonderful cook and baker. She would make enough food for a small army (which she had) and always had a freezer full of cookies and other baked goods to treat her family. She was a sweet, kind, gentle soul who will be terribly missed by her family and everyone who knew her.
Iris was preceded in death by her husband, Phil Dobson; oldest son, Terry Dobson; parents, Cecil and Ruth Zody; brothers, Harold, Artis and George Zody.
She is survived by her sons, Dan (Donna) Dobson, Robert (Jodi) Dobson, Jerald (Jackie) Dobson, Harold (Cathie) Dobson; daughter, Donna (Steve) Tobin; daughter-in-law, Melody Dobson; grandchildren, Sheldon, Christopher, Scott, Elizabeth, Kelli, Jamie, Kyle, Nichole, Ashley, Lesley, Cory, Ben, Matt and Nick; and many great-grandchildren.
There will be a visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 28, at Silha Funeral Home in Glendive. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 29, at Silha Funeral Home. Burial at Dawson Memorial Cemetery and luncheon at Silha Tribute Center to follow.
