Irma Mae Charlton Daum

Irma Mae Charlton Daum was born on Jan. 20, 1931, to Oscar and Susie Charlton. Irma was born at the family home in Joliet. She attended Joliet High School, which is where she met her husband, William Daum. After marrying, they moved first to Winnett and then on to Conrad, where they worked for cattle ranches. In 1954, they moved to their own ranch in Pryor.

Irma loved being outdoors, working in her beautiful yard and garden. She was an avid horsewoman in her youth. She was a true ranch wife and could be found outside looking at the cattle and the crops and the next minute putting up a batch of canned preserves. She was especially active in her church. She was a longtime member of St. Charles Parrish at Pryor. She was also very active in civic organizations, including NILE and Yellowstone Cattlewomen, where she held local and state offices. She loved traveling and saw much of the United States. She traveled to England and Ireland in 1997. Irma loved good music and was a Jimmy Buffett fan. In early 2011, she got to see him in concert in Kansas City along with her daughter and son-in-law.

Our beloved mother passed away on Nov. 27, 2011, after a valiant 18-month struggle against melanoma.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Bill Daum; son Doug Daum (Connie) of Billings; daughter Vicki Leuenberger (Roy) of Billings; and daughter Michelle Haskins (Ray) of Lee’s Summit, Mo. She had two grandsons, Joshua Leuenberger (Danielle) of Bellingham, Wash., and Bowen Leuenberger (Sharee) of Billings, along with two great-granddaughters. Irma lived to learn that she was going to be a great-grandmother again next year. Irma is also survived by her younger brother, James Charlton (Beverly) of Huntley, Mo

The family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society, PEAKS or the charity of your choice.

Funeral mass will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, at St. Charles Mission in Pryor, followed by burial at the Joliet Cemetery. Afterwards, all are invited to join the family at a buffet at Rockvale Cafe to celebrate Irma’s life.
