Isabel Moe was born June 27, 1928 in Williston, North Dakota, the third daughter of David Clinton Poling and Ida Marie Poling. She lived the first seven years of her life in Williston and after the death of her father, moved to Poplar, Montana, where she lived until she was seventeen. She received a Bachelor of Arts in English and History at the University of North Dakota in 1949. She began teaching in a one-room school-house in Mineral Bench, Montana and then taught in Whitefish, Montana; Azusa, California: and Caracas, Venezuela. She married Peder Moe, Jr, in 1956 and the marriage lasted 48 years until his death in November, 2004.

She was Volunteer of the Year for the Billings Junior League in 1964 and a founding member of the Crazy Ladies of Billings, Montana. She was active in the Billings Symphony, the Junior League of Billings, Montana and the Yellowstone Country Club.

She is survived by her three children ,and one grandchild: daughter Karlen (Michael) Reed and grandson Ben Reed of Boston, Massachusetts: son Nelson (Marcianne) Moe of Alexandria, Virginia: daughter Ardis Ann Moe of Los Angeles, California; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Moe passed away on February 13, 2006.

Memorial Services will be on Saturday, February 18, 2006 at the First Presbyterian Church of Billings, Montana on 13th and Poly Drive, at 2 PM.

Instead of flowers, donations can be made in Isabel Moe’s name to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 1445 Ave B., of Billings Montana 59102 or to the Billings Symphony, 201 North Broadway, Billings, Montana 59101.
