Following graduation from Normal School (now MSU-Billings) she started a teaching position in Decker for $75 per month. Over the years, she taught in Lodge Grass, Columbus, and Huntley, MT.
Marie married Clarence Edward Barrett in 1943, and to this union Edna was born. Clarence died the following winter. Marie later married William Junior. They were only married a few months when he died of a heart attack. She met and later married Raymond Davis in 1953. This union was blessed with children, LeIla (Gary Knox), Gary (Teri), Paul, Elaine, and Karen (Shawn Beadnell). Edna (Vernon Lunderman) was adopted by Raymond shortly after the marriage.
In addition to her children, Marie is survived by siblings George Morton of Temple Hills, MD, Leo (Genelle) Morton of Wenatchee, WA, Charlotte Morton and Lorraine Morton, both residents of St. John's in Billings; 10 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Marie and Ray lived on the family ranch in Shepherd and raised their family there. In 1981 they moved to Billings Heights and lived there until failing heath forced them to move. Raymond died in 2005. Marie was a resident at The Vista for the past 3 years.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Eric Saberhagen, his nurse Marsha, and all the staff at The Vista who took wonderful care of our mom.
