On the morning of April 3, 2015, after fighting a long, hard battle with COPD, Jack Lackman cast his last breath, surrounded by his loving family. He passed peacefully in the home that he lived in for 71 years.

Jack entered this world on Feb. 13, 1939, in Billings. Jack was the first of four children born to Alex and Alvina Lackman. He attended Shiloh School and Billings Senior High, and was an active member of 4-H and FFA. After finishing his education in 1957, he worked alongside his father on the family farm, taking over all responsibilities after the passing of his father.

In 1974, Jack married Judy Morris. Together, they were blessed with two children, Donni and Jim. And in later years, they were honored to welcome four beautiful granddaughters.

Jack quit farming due to health issues in 1992 and went to work for Con Agra. After retiring in 2000, he could be found most mornings at the Western Empire Emporium, having coffee with friends, then off to an afternoon at Big B BINGO.

His summer days were spent camping and fishing with family and friends, Canyon Ferry Lake being his most favorite place to be. Family was very important to Jack. He always wanted his children close by and enjoyed every minute that he spent with his granddaughters, teaching them all that he knew.

Jack was greeted in heaven by his grandparents; parents; brother, Gary Lackman; infant sister; brother-in-law, Jim Morris; and many other family and friends.

Leaving behind on this Earth his wife, Judy; children, Donni (Steven) Tullar, Jim Lackman; four granddaughters, Hannah, Alexandra, Olivia and Averi; sister Kathy (John) Moss; sisters-in-law, JoAnn Morris, Dorothy Morris and Shirley Lackman; and many nieces and nephews. Jack also leaves behind many other friends and relatives.

A celebration of Jack's life will be held at Faith Chapel at 11 a.m. Saturday April 11. Reception to follow.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of Billings Clinic, and RiverStone Hospice for all of the help during Jack's last weeks and days. Memorials can be made to St. Jude Children Hospital, Chase Hawks Memorial Association, or a charity of one's choice.
