On Sunday, May 29, 2016, after a long and frustrating battle with Parkinson's disease, Jack Streeter peacefully fell asleep and woke up in heaven.
Jack was born the only child of Delton and Helen on May 24, 1933. He graduated from Billings Senior High in 1951 and University of Montana in 1956 with a degree in Petroleum Geology. He was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity.
Jack was a captain in the Air Force, who sent him to UCLA for a degree in meteorology. He served in Japan, Korea and Hawaii, and spent many hours in the nose of surveillance aircraft flying over the North Pole "forecasting weather" (Read: snooping on the Russians). He was forecasting weather when he met Anne, who was neither in Russia nor the North Pole - they met while he was working at the San Francisco Weather Bureau. In 1962, they began 54 years of a very good marriage.
After studying business at Cal Berkley, he brought his bride back to Billings and began his career as a mortgage banker at Streeter Brothers - founded by his dad and his uncle Delbert in 1922. Jack was a kind and beloved boss and coworker. He was a humble and loyal man of integrity.
Jack enjoyed the mountains, geology, weather, fishing and woodworking. He was particularly proud of playing catcher for American Legion Baseball when they won the first state championship for Billings in 1951.
Jack started following Jesus in 1963, serving Him faithfully until the very end, which is really a new beginning. He loved worshipping and serving the last 16 years at Harvest Church, which he helped start. He volunteered countless hours during church construction, and ongoing upkeep and maintenance. He loved the people, the coffee, the music (and of course the sermons)!
Jack is survived by his wife Anne; sons Doug (Peggy) and Vern (Ramie); and daughter Jen Ulrichs (Dave); and nine delightful grandchildren.
A celebration of a life well lived will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 4, at Harvest Church, 1235 W. Wicks Lane. Memorials may be sent to Harvest Church or the Better Billings Foundation.
