Jack E. Young passed away on June 26, 2017, after an extended fight to heal complications from heart disease and lung issues. He was 76.

Jack was born on March 6, 1941, in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. He enlisted in the Air Force after high school, and, during his service, he met Mary Barrett of Springfield, Massachusetts. They married in 1963. After his discharge, he became a lineman for PPL in Pennsylvania.

A trip to Montana in the early 1970s convinced Jack and Mary to move out West, where he attended Western Montana College (now UM Western) and earned a teaching degree. He taught at Gardiner for four years before returning to electrical company work, where he rose to a supervisory position in Powell, Wyoming. His career took his family across the country for positions in New Mexico, Vermont and Illinois, where he was the CEO of Wayne-Wight Co-Op. He retired to Billings in 2002 to be near family and indulge his lifelong passion for hunting, fishing, NASCAR and the New York Yankees.

Jack was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Helen and William. He is survived by Mary, his wife of 54 years; his sons, Michael, Timothy and Christopher; his daughter, Barbara Riebe; as well as five grandchildren.

A memorial service is planned for a later date.
