James (Jim) Sexton Willits was born in Richmond, CA on January 24, 1950. When he was 6years old his family moved to southern California where he spent most of his life. He had a number of careers, including fabricating parts utilized in the aerospace industry. In 2005 he moved to Billings, MT. He spent many years in tech support for Bresnan (later becoming Spectrum).

Jim was a beloved son, brother and uncle. He was a source of joy for his family and everyone with whom he spent time. His humor was infectious and he inspired laughter with his colorful jokes at family gatherings. Jim will always be remembered for teaching us all that laughter is the best gift and the best medicine.

Jim had many interests, including carburetor rebuilding, computer assembly, die cast car collecting and 3D printing. He had an amazing knowledge of World War II history. In the summer, his deck held an incredible display of colorful, potted annuals as he truly had a green thumb. He also spent many enjoyable afternoons on the Peter Yegen golf course.

Jim’s greatest love was his family. He enjoyed many family vacations, a number of which were spent at Disneyland. His first visit was with his parents and sister, Cathie, shortly after Disneyland opened. There were many more throughout the decades. Tigger remained his favorite character. Jim enjoyed spending time at the beach and swimming in the ocean, where he taught his nephew and nieces to bodysurf on their visits to Oceanside, CA.

Jim passed away on February 15, 2025 after a short illness, surrounded by his family. They wish to extend their heartfelt thanks to caregivers from Visiting Angels, including Lisa and Kelliand the wonderful care given to him during his short stay at Intermountain Health Hospital by the ICU team.

Jim was dearly loved and will be sorely missed. Jim was preceded in death by his parents. William and Patricia Willits and brother in law, Joe Cross. He is survived by his sister, Cathie Cross, nephew, Chris Cross (Jayme) and nieces Tricia Kurth and Kate Cross. He is also survived by his great nephews, Rase (Madi) Kurth, Kevin Kurth, Brady Cross and Joey Cross.

There will be a private celebration of life at a future date.
