James "Jim" H. Nyman was born in Billings on Aug. 16, 1954, to William and Virginia (Kober) Nyman, and passed away unexpectedly on the evening of Feb. 1, 2018.

He happily made his home in Billings after living in Denver during his youth, and, for much of his adult life, he worked alongside friends and family at Sign Products of Billings. He married Krystall Gray in 1980, and from this union were born the light of his life, Jana Lynn and Lee James; the two later divorced.

Jim loved anything to do with the natural world, whether he was gardening, fishing, camping or hunting. He also had passions for reading, cooking, music and sports, and proudly inspired all of these interests in his children. And whether he was watching sports games in person or at home in his "Rowdy Room" cheering for the Denver Broncos or Colorado Avalanche, he was always happy to share his enthusiasm and snacks with anyone who wanted to join in the fun.

As much as Jim was known for his quick sense of humor, he was equally ready with practical advice if it was needed, and was happy to lend a hand whenever asked. His witty jokes, wisdom and delicious home-cooked meals adorned with hand selected items from his garden will be dearly missed.

Jim is survived by his children, Jana (Nick) and Lee (Crystal) and his grandson Vincent James; his mother, Virginia Hollingsworth; his siblings, Nancy (Terry) Young, Mary Ann (Allan) Garnett, John (Char) and Cathy (Pat) Bentz; his partner-in-crime, Debbie Dinius; stepdaughter Jennifer (Kris) Paull-Zito and their children; his stepsister, Megan Knapp; numerous aunts, nieces, nephews, and other family members, friends and co-workers. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas and David; his father, William; and his stepfather, Earl Hollingsworth.

A memorial celebration of Jim's life will be held in August 2018, with details to be announced closer to that time. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the charity of one's choice.
