James Phillip Wittmer, 65, of Billings passed away March 18, 2015. His Golden heart stopped beating after a long courageous battle with cancer. Jim passed away at home surrounded by his loving family, being a born again Christian, he went to be with his savior Jesus Christ. Jim was born January 7, 1950 to Harold and Caroline Wittmer. He attended School in Billings, joining the Navy in 1968 serving time in Vietnam until 1970 when he returned to Billings to serve 3 more years until he was Honorably discharged. Jim drove truck for a short while before starting a long career working the family business of roofing and siding. He also worked at the Cherry Tree Inn as a Maintenance Tech for 13 years before retiring due to illness. Jim married his loving wife Harriett Hepp on November 16, 1998 together they enjoyed country music with Jim playing guitar and singing at jam sessions, and county dances. He was a jack of all trades building and fixing almost anything. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers George & Gary, his Grandparents, as well as a nephew. He is survived by his wife Harriett, a daughter Danien (Will) Whitmore of Livingston, and four sisters, Gloria Reno, Barb Pedersen, Mary (Doug) Wittmer, Rose (Tim) Hutzenbiler. Four step-children Jim and Debbie of Billings, Sue of Buffalo WY, and Larry of Las Vegas, 15 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren, and many family members he loved very much. Jim's wife and children would like to thank the many angels that were involved in Jim’s care. Jim we love you and will miss you always, until we meet again. Memorial services will be held 11am Friday, March 27th at Emmanuel Baptist Church. Military Honors will be 2pm at Yellowstone National Cemetery.
