Jean Katherine (Bauer) Andersen, 84, passed away peacefully Sunday (her favorite day of the week), Nov. 26, 2017, at RiverStone Hospice House, where she spent many hours volunteering.

Jean was born in Portland, Oregon, on July 8, 1933. That was where she met the love of her life, Harold "Andy" Andersen. They married in 1951 and, in 1955, they moved to Billings.

Jean raised four children. She worked as a secretary at Will James Middle School, and she worked as an executive assistant and elder at First Presbyterian Church (where she was a longtime member of the Choir and Bell Choir).

Following Jean's retirement, she became an active member at Rocky Mountain Community Church RMCC, and she did volunteer work at Big Sky Hospice and also at Billings Studio Theatre. After recovering from a medical crisis in 2014, she volunteered at RiverStone Hospice House in the St. John's complex. She became fond of many patients at both Hospice services and was honored by the election of "Volunteer of the Year 2014" at RiverStone Hospice.

Jean loved spending time with her family, friends, RMCC family and her Red Hat Group. She enjoyed the beauty of nature, music, being outdoors, good food, puzzles and games.

Survivors include husband Harold "Andy" Andersen; daughter Roxanne (Tom) Cleasby; and two sons, Kevin Andersen and Drew (Shirley) Andersen. Jean is also survived by brother-in-law Gary Andersen and wife Betty and their children. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Darcy, Gail, Kyle, Neal and Candice; two great-grandchildren; nephew and nieces; and many more family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Emma Bauer; brother and sister-in-law Jack and Dorothy Bauer; and daughter Connie Schranz.

Jean was a soft-spoken woman who fiercely loved her family, full of faith in God, and the best wife, mother and grandmother that anyone could ask for. She will be greatly missed by each of us, but we find comfort in knowing that she is with our Father in Heaven.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 1, at Rocky Mountain Community Church, 2832 Broadwater Ave., Billings.

Memorials may be made to Rocky Mountain Community Church or RiverStone Health Foundation.
