Jerome D. "Jerry" Hein traveled from the worldly prison of his body to our Lord's spacious Heaven on Feb. 4, 2017. Jerry was born on Oct. 2, 1934, to George and Alice Harding Hein in Billings. He graduated from Billings Senior High in 1952 and joined the Army in 1954. While in the Army, he traveled to Japan and visited Iwo Jima.
As a youngster, he enjoyed fishing with his twin brothers and maintained a love for fishing, camping and dancing with his family until his legs would go no more. But he always enjoyed a pizza and red beer and a baseball game.
Jerry was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was preceded in death by his parents; his twin brothers, George and Jim; his sister, June; and his only son, Dean "Deano" Hein; his first wife, Donna; and lifelong friend and ex-wife Pat Karst; and his companion Laura Burkhart.
He is survived by his daughter, Velvet Dee (Jesse) Bonilla; stepsons Ace and Patrick and Flarin; stepchildren Tammy (Lucky) Seibert, Richard "Rick" (Julie) Albert and Tanya (Alan) Hahne. Numerous grandchildren are saddened by losing their grandpa.
He enjoyed a career at the Postal Service because he got to meet so many friends that he kept for years. He loved dancing with his former wife Pat Karst, who had just passed away on Jan. 23, 2017, and friend Laura Burkhart.
Prayer Services will be held from 5:00-5:30 P.M. on Wednesday, February 8 at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary. Following the prayer service, the casket will remain open and family will receive friends until 8:00 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to your favorite military service organization. Private Family Graveside Services will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens. A service to celebrate his life will be combined with his love Pat Karst on March 4, at 11 a.m., at King of Glory Church off Shiloh. Military Honors will also be held to recognize his service to the Army.
