Johanne Lane Cuthbert Moser Profile Photo

Johanne Lane Cuthbert Moser, our sweet and lively matriarch, passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, Aug. 7, 2016, in Billings. She was 90 years young, and her beautiful soul will be missed by all of us.

Johanne was born in New York City to Kathleen and George Cuthbert on May 18, 1926. She attended Newton High School in Brooklyn, and Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School in New York City. Her brother, George Jr., died in World War II. After his death, Johanne, who was 21, moved to Billings, where she met Alfred Moser, the love of her life. They married on April 22, 1950, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, and enjoyed 51 years of marriage.

Johanne worked for the Army Exchange Service in NYC and Standard Oil in Billings. She was a volunteer at St. Vincent de Paul for 40 years. She loved "God, her family, all kinds of flowers especially African Violets, life in Montana, and Snoopy." Johanne had a blessed, wonderful life, and she taught all of her family to live with dignity, honesty and respect.

She is survived by her children: Mark (Janet), Susan (Don Stewart), Nancy (Steve Schieno) and Richard (Mary). She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

A memorial mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 19, at St. Pius X Church, 717 18th St. West.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Vincent de Paul. The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the staff at West Park Retirement Village for their loving care to Mom.
