John Andrew Sengarjune 4, 1946 — July 26, 2018

John passed away on July 26, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 4, 1946, to Eva Ebach, and was the youngest of 11 children. He grew up in Billings and attended Senior High. On May 4, 1968, John married the love of his life, Germaine Mattern. They recently celebrated 50 wonderful years of marriage.

Big John began his truck driving career at a young age and enjoyed life on the road. If it could be put on a trailer, he hauled it. After logging millions of miles, he retired in 2012. His stories of the road were always captivating, and he could tell you where the best meal was in any state. In case you were wondering, the best pork fried rice could be found in Gary, Indiana.

John loved anything with wheels, but his passion was drag racing his 1953 Chevy. His final race was Father's Day weekend. With the engine roaring, John crossed the finish line one last time. Other hobbies included trips to Wendover, selling Christmas trees and working the fish fry with the Knights of Columbus, family vacations, watching the Raiders football games, road trips across the country, World Cup Soccer, and he became the self-appointed neighborhood watch. And if you were looking for a like or a share on Facebook, Big John was your guy.

John's biggest love was his family. A day never went by that he didn't talk to a child, grandchild, or great-grandchild. Spending time with his family was the most important part of his life. Especially Sunday dinners, which were always the highlight of his week.

Big John is survived by his beloved wife, Germaine; children Sandy (Rob) Morse, John Sengar Jr. and Janine Samuel; grandchildren Brittney (Jay) Jamieson, Jessica (Will) Neuman, Jennifer Morse, Jacey Sengar, Josh Briese, Justin Briese and Alexis Samuel; great-grandchildren Tenley, Harper and Jace Jamieson. He also leaves behind four sisters and two brothers.

A very special thank you to the physicians and nurses at Billings Clinic who cared for John, you are true angels. Dr. Fabregas, you became part of our family throughout this journey. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for everything.

A vigil will be held at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary at 7 p.m. on Monday, July 30. A funeral mass will be held at St. Pius X Church at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 31.
