Longtime Gillette, Wyoming resident John A. Hart, 79, passed on March 19, 2019, in Billings, surrounded by his loved ones.
John was born on Jan. 24, 1940, in Marmarth, North Dakota, to Amos and Ellen Hart, the fifth of six children. He graduated from Upton High School, where he met and fell in love with Mary Anne Cummings. John and Mary Anne were married on June 5, 1959, and began their life together. They lived in several small towns in Wyoming and Montana, and welcomed four children into their growing family before coming back to settle in Gillette in 1974. John was always a "Jack of All Trades," and built a beautiful home for his family in 1977. He worked in the oil fields and the coal mines, eventually retiring after 16 years with PP&L in 2004. John and Mary Ann enjoyed traveling and had many motor home adventures both near and far - making it all the way to Alaska at one point. After he lost Mary Anne to cancer in 2008, John was a bit lost. Then he met Gladys Pridgeon, who became a wonderful companion that he would share the last eight years with.
John is survived by three of his children, Joni Jo Uhe of St. Ignatius, Brian Hart of Moscow, Idaho, and Jackie Beardslee of O'Fallon, Missour; and three grandchildren; as well as siblings Myrtle Kundy of Great Falls and Peggy McConigly of Casper, Wyoming. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Anne Hart; and his son, Kevin; his parents, Amos and Ellen; his brothers, Charles Hart and Dennis Hart and his sister Kathryn Thompson.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, at High Plains Community Church, Gillette.
Memorial donations can be made to Campbell County Senior Center or the charity of your choice.
