Johnny L. Nystrom was born in Havre, to Evelyn and John Nystrom. He lived on the family ranch with his four brothers and parents, and had very fond memories of it. He enlisted in the army in October of 1956 and served for two years as a medic and had an honorable discharge.

Johnny enjoyed his children. He lived a solitary life after his marriages and enjoyed his "Thistle Acres" and his "Happy Half a Horse Shed," as he always referred to his home.

He loved talking on the phone to his brothers and his children. He would always write diaries for letters and then rip them up and start over.

He worked as a DJ for numerous years, and was known as Johnny Nice Guy. He ended his working career at Wymont Beverages.

He is survived by his children, Vicki Nystrom of Silverdale, Wash., Terri Elgin (Bill), son Josh of Olathe, Kan., John Nystrom of Billings, Rex Nystrom of Fond Du Lac, Wis., Tammy Rasmussen (Mike), sons Shawn and Corey of Billings, Tracy Haman (Grant), son Conner and daughter Regan of Billings; three brothers, Paul Nystrom (Jo) of Montrose, Colo., Ed Nystrom of Havre and Conrad Nystrom of Havre.

He was preceded in death by brother David Nystrom.

No local services are planned. His ashes will be spread at Pine Mountain in Havre, on the family ranch.
