Joseph H. Yerger

Joseph H. Yerger passed away suddenly after a short illness on June 22, 2012.

Joe was born on April 1, 1931 in Forsyth to Mary and Henry Yerger. He graduated from Billings Senior High School in 1949 and married the love of his life Betty E. Steinmetz in 1950. After proudly serving his country in the United States Navy, Joe began a long and successful sales management career with the Grinnell Company in Great Falls then Billings for 35 years, retiring in 1985.

He loved his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and the rest of his family. He enjoyed fishing, working in his yard, and most of all golfing, travelling and being with Betty.

Joe is survived by his children Lori (Owen); Russ (Dianna); Jim (Jo Lynn); grandchildren Jacob and Sarah Yerger; Jonathan (Stacey) Phillips; Jillian (Andrew) Collins; Matthew, Michael and Mitchell Craig; great-grandchildren Ava and Tristan Collins and Eli and Anna Phillips; sister Marjorie Mott; nephews Wade Steinmetz, Ken Steinmetz and Scott Mott and his son Andy Mott; niece Carol Steinmetz; and aunt Maybell Keil. His beloved wife Betty; her parents George and Elizabeth Steinmetz; Betty’s brother and his wife Art and Marion Steinmetz; and his parents Henry and Mary Yerger predeceased him.

Joe was a generous man providing unconditional love and support to his family. He will be remembered as a thoughtful, wise and caring husband, father and grandpa. Great solace is found in him being reunited with Betty.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial will be held 10am, Saturday, June 30, 2012 at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary, 1001 Alderson Avenue in Billings.

The family expresses its profound gratitude for the loving and gentle care provided Joe by the devoted professionals at Aspen Meadows Nursing Home where he resided.

In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that memorials be directed to a chosen charity or Help for Homeless Pets, 2910 Hannon Road, Billings, Montana 59101.
