Judy Armold (68) of Butte, MT passed away at Laurel Health and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her family, at 10 a.m. on May 24, 2012 after a brief fight with her second round of breast cancer.
Judy was born in Bozeman, MT December 20, 1943 to Stanley and Dorothy Hedrick. She grew up in Bozeman, Havre, Great Falls, Chinook, Big Sandy, and more towns along the Highline. She graduated from Bozeman High School in 1962. Judy's favorite job ever was tossing pizza dough in the window of the pizzeria in Bozeman while she attended college at MSU. She also spent many years providing childcare while her children were young, and began working for Montana Power Company first as a meter reader, then in customer service in October of 1978. She moved to Butte in 1996 when MPC sold out to Northwestern. She later worked briefly at the Hastings in Butte, then greatly enjoyed working with the activities director at Big Sky Assisted Living in Butte.
Judy met William E. Armold outside a bar in Billings, MT (Hey Honey, you want a drink?), and shortly thereafter married him in Cody, WY, December 29, 1967.
Judy's hobbies included reading, meeting new people, reading, collecting books, reading, conversations with family and friends (she enjoyed having a phone attached to her ear), and she occasionally enjoyed reading a good book. Judy traveled throughout the US, and loved her Montana trips to Canyon Ferry, Mystic Lake, the Beartooths, Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Ellen and Garfield Carlson of Bozeman, with whom she lived while completing high school; her parents Stanley and Dorothy Hedrick of Billings; and her brother Kenneth Hedrick of Stevensville.
She is survived by her husband, William Armold of Laurel; Sister Sheena (LeRoy) Lamach of Polson; sister-in-law Kellie Hedrick of Missoula; son Jim (Shelly) Armold of Laurel; daughters Dora (Mury) Guldborg of Laurel, and Carolyn (Joe) DeBar of Laurel. She is also survived by her 9 grandchildren: Brett, Tim, Amy, Zach, Kansas, Drew, Dylan and Melanie as well as her great-granddaughter, Lyla.
Judy's memorial service will be at Michelotti-Sawyers (1001 Alderson Ave) in Billings on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Following the service, there will be a party at the Elk's club in Billings to celebrate her life. Memorials may be made to Rocky Mountain Hospice or The American Cancer Society for the Cure.
