Kurt Bauer, 74 of Billings, passed away on May 29, 2008 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Nurnberg, Germany, on October 7, 1933 to Georg and Betty (Rumer) Bauer.
During his high school years he learned his life long profession as a glazer. He married the love of his life, Inge Ulrich on May 7, 1954. They were married 35 years before her passing on December 16, 1989.
Kurt wanted to start a better life, so he and Inge immigrated to Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada in 1957 with only $54 and one suitcase in hand. They lived there for 5 years and made many life long friends. In 1962, they moved to Billings and Kurt went to work for Michotte Glass. He worked there for 20 plus years until he retired.
In 1995, Kurt met Isabel Bertsch. They had a special friendship and bond until her passing on March 16, 2006. His pride and joy were his twin grandsons, Matthias and Nickolaus. He loved them very much and they loved him. Once they were born, he could not stop talking about them. He enjoyed traveling as often as he could and taking his grandsons for walks to the park.
He was always willing to give a helping hand to friends, neighbors, and ones in need. He was a very caring and giving man that no one will ever forget. If you met him once, you would remember him forever. Papa, Opa. We will miss you very much. You will be in out hearts forever. You are now in Heaven with mom.
Survivors include his daughter Angela Bauer, her husband Tye Brakke, and twin grandsons Matthias Kurt Brakke and Nickolaus Kurt Brakke, all of Billings; son Kurt Bauer, Jr. Of Spokane, WA; sister Anna Oscovai of Billings; and one sister and one brother in Germany.
