Larry Dale Grendahl

On Sunday, February 8th, our dad, Larry Dale Grendahl passed away surrounded by his loved ones at St. Vincent Healthcare.

Larry was born May 31st, 1951 in Wolf Point, MT to Myron and Sheila Grendahl. He was the oldest of their three children. In December of 1971 he married Jeri Lyn Moe and they had two daughters, Andi and Kori. They later divorced. Larry's early years was spent in Wolf Point until his family moved to Billings in 1974 where he began his career as an Electrical Engineer at CTA Architects Engineers. His hard work and efforts earned him the prestigious award of Associate Shareholder until he retired on January 5th, 2015.

Larry loved his five grandsons and enjoyed watching them in all of their sport activities. He took great strides to make sure he never missed one of his grandsons' baseball games, which of course, was his favorite sport. The Boston Red Sox were his favorite team. He was incredibly gifted with his hands and we feel fortunate to have some of his pieces of work in our homes.

Dad was a kind soul and would take the shirt off his back to help anyone in need. He was unassuming and hated being the center of attention. He was able to live out a bucket list item when he purchased his first Harley Davidson motorcycle and toured the United States with his friends. Saying Larry was a creature of habit would be an understatement. He was extremely punctual and trustworthy, and his word was his bond. He looked forward to his Tuesday night gatherings and his Friday lunches with his best friends. If you were lucky enough to be included in this small circle, it was a friendship that would last a lifetime. He always looked forward to spending time with his family over the holidays, especially Thanksgiving, which was his favorite.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his only granddaughter, Ramsey.

Larry is survived by his two daughters Andi (Robby) Spearing, their son Simon (14), and Kori (Jeffrey) Keller and their four boys, Elliot (15), Max (12), Staley (9), and Bauer (2). Survivors also include his brother, Bruce (Patti) Grendahl and sister Vicki Hammond.

Although our hearts are broken, we know he is safe with Jesus holding his precious granddaughter.

Funeral services are scheduled at 3pm at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 328 S Shiloh Road (corner of Shiloh Road & Monad Road) Billings, MT 59106.
