Lawrence ‘Larry’ B. Guess

Lawrence "Larry" B. Guess, 77, went to join his wife and Heavenly Father on March 23, 2019. In the comfort of his own home, surrounded by his loving family, he passed peacefully after a brief battle with cancer.

Larry was born on July 24, 1941, in Mobile, Alabama, to Corrine Tacon. In his early years, Larry spent a great deal of time with his grandma Lora Tacon, with whom he had a special relationship. Larry met the love of his life, Sheila Rushmer, while working at S.H. Kress, where he continued his career as a Store Manager for 20 years. They married on Jan. 3, 1961, and together were blessed with four children: Tani Pomerinke of Ocean View, Hawaii, Lori Guess of Missoula, Larry "Bo" Guess (Kim) of Billings, and Jodie Ferro (Peter) of Missoula. Additionally Larry's life was enriched with nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Before moving to Billings, where he resided the last 39 years, Larry and his family lived in several states, including eight years in Hawaii, which he loved. Larry looked forward to his return vacations to Hawaii, in which he stayed on the island of Maui at least once a year.

Prior to retirement in 2000, he was employed by KOA for 19 years, where he was a Senior VP.

Larry was known for his quick wit, dry sense of humor, love of travel and golf, keeping an immaculate and well-groomed lawn, listening to a wide array of music and, most of all, his love of family.

Those who knew him best were able to see past his gruff exterior, seeing the kind and gentle soul that he kept reserved for those he loved.

Funeral services with reception to follow will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, at Faith Chapel, 517 Shiloh Road. Larry will be laid to rest by his beloved wife Sheila, at Yellowstone Valley Memorial Park in Billings.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations can be made to The Colorectal Cancer Alliance and The American Diabetes Association.
