Lee Restad Profile Photo

Lee Restad was born on The Dryland, north of Billings, the sixth of seven children born to Frederikke and Ole Restad. He attended Star School until his family moved to Billings, where he attended Elysian School. After graduating from Senior High, Lee worked at the Bair Ranch in Martinsdale, driving Mr. Bair. During that time he met Mary Cameron. In 1945, they married, then built a home and raised a family in Billings. Lee made a career working as a shop foreman and cabinet builder for Wells Brothers Construction Company for thirty-five years. He lived a rich life filled with a wide variety of interests. He loved horses, built a greenhouse, and always had a beautiful green lawn lined with colorful flowers. He dug for sapphires, found agates that he finished into jewelry, and even learned to knap arrowheads. He made Christmas caramels and cookies, and read constantly. His greatest joy and accomplishment was learning to make violins. He made one for each of his children. Lee was preceded in death by his three sisters and three brothers. He is survived by his wife of 73 years and his children, Penne (Robert Abzug) of Austin, Texas, David (Suzie) of Phoenix, and Cindy of Lahaina, Hawaii, and two grandchildren, Benjamin and Johanna of Austin.

Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be 11am, Friday, June 8th, 2018 at American Lutheran Church.
