Lena M. Stephens

Lena Stephens passed on April 11, 2016.

Lena Mae Haley was born on Dec. 7, 1925 in Hollis, Okla. She excelled in basketball, music and theater. She married AJ "Steve" Stephens in March 1944. Eventually, Lena and AJ moved to Montana with a seismograph crew and then settled in Miles City, where Steve started a lifelong career in the life insurance business and Lena took on the task of raising their three daughters.

Lena participated in the Barn Players Theater for many years and raised a singing trio with her girls. She was a dedicated bowler, aspiring artist and writer. Lena loved to sing with AJ on the piano and entertain in their home.

After AJ retired from Mutual of New York, they moved to Billings to be closer to their grandkids.

Lena is survived by her brother, Ken Haley (Wanda) of Temple, Okla.; her three daughters, Vicka Lanier (Hal), Madeleine Ross (Doug), Ramona Kurkowski (Joe); and grandchildren Alexa Henry (Michael) and Tara Kurkowski.

A private service was requested. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Lena's name to the American Lung Association. Condolences may be sent to 1563 Country Manor Blvd., Billings, MT 59102.
