LeRoy Fellows Frewin, 80, left this earthly realm to meet the Lord on Monday, Aug. 1, 2022, from Billings, Montana. Roy was born March 1, 1942, in Ray, Arizona. He is the oldest of Leroy and Dorcas Frewin’s six children. Besides living in Arizona as a child, LeRoy moved to El Paso, Texas, and then to Salt Lake City.
Summers were a time that his family would vacation near Bear Lake in northern Utah. As the family was camping on the banks of Swan Creek, which empties into Bear Lake, Roy would get up really early, take his fishing pole and bait and try to get as many fish caught as possible before the rest of the family was awake. He handed down his love of fishing to his sons and grandsons. Roy always seemed to have a way with coaxing the fish to bite.
LeRoy graduated from Olympus High School with honors. He then attended the University of Utah. It was during that first term that Roy decided he would serve a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was called to serve in the Southern Germany Mission for two and a half years. It was during the time that he was in Germany that the Berlin Wall went up, dividing West Germany from East Germany. When he returned to the States, he went to Brigham Young University for a semester, but transferred back to the University of Utah to finish out his degree. It was during his last year of college that he decided to try out for the Institute Choir. While performing in the choir, he met his future wife, Candace Woolley. They were married in the LDS Salt Lake Temple on Dec. 16, 1968, making 53 years of married happiness. Roy graduated with a BS degree in Electrical Engineering.
Roy and Candy are the parents of five children: Christopher, Ryan (Catherine), Curtis (Darcey), Nathan (Sarah), and Alynne. There are 13 grandchildren, 11 boys and two girls. Roy was a loving father/grandfather who was always concerned with the family’s happiness and wellbeing.
Roy has been active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He has been called many times to serve as ward clerk for the different wards in which the family attended. The family knows that he will continue to serve the Lord faithfully in his new calling.
A funeral service will be held to honor his life at the LDS Monad Ward Chapel, 3595 Monad Road, at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 8, 2022. There will be a viewing from 9 to 9:45 a.m. preceding the funeral. Interment will be at Yellowstone Valley Memorial Park, 3606 Grand Ave, Billings, Montana.
