Leroy Arthur Iversen, 78, passed away January 26, 2012. His wife and family were by his side as he slipped from his courageous battle with cancer into the arms of our Heavenly Father.
He was born to Fred and Nora Iversen in Sidney, MT on June 25, 1933. After graduating from Sidney High School Leroy enlisted in the Navy and served aboard aircraft carriers during the Korean War. In 1954, Leroy married Marilyn Anne Wells and together they raised their five children. Marilyn was diagnosed with cancer in 1987 and died in 1993.
Leroy's career included farming, ranching and feedlot operations in Sidney. In 1970 he moved his family to Billings where he managed Yellowstone Molasses Service for over 20 years. In 1992 Leroy moved to Moses Lake, Washington, managing the Midwest Agri Commodities export operations until his retirement in 1996.
Leroy enjoyed camping, boating, snowmobiling and motorcycling with his family and friends. He was an active member of the Goldwing Riders Association, Chapter S club in Moses Lake, and treasured the many good friends and memories he and Nita made through riding. After retiring, Leroy spent several weeks motorcycling through all four corners of the United States, logging over 13,000 miles.
Leroy is survived by his wife, Nita; his children Garth (Jana) Iversen, Douglas (Nancy) Iversen, Terry Iversen, Denise (Mike) Murray, Stacey (Jeff) Huck; his stepchildren Mike (Kelly) Ventling, Mana Rae Ventling, Mickala (Ed) Smith, and Melissa Ventling; 9 grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A vigil service will be held at 7 PM Monday at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary in Billings, and a memorial service is scheduled for noon Tuesday, January 31 at St. Patrick's Co-Cathedral Billings with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to a charity of choice or St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church (5047 100 D Ave. N., Lefor, ND 58641) may be considered.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the Oncology Department and staff of Billings Clinic, as well as the care providers from Journey Hospice.
