Born on May 29, 1942, Lewis "Little Louie" Rector passed away on his 75th birthday with family and friends by his side, succumbing only after a courageous and lengthy battle with COPD.

The firstborn to L R and Angela Rector, Lewis's early years were spent in Billings, where he attended Fratt Memorial School and served as an altar boy for several years at St. Patrick Catholic Church and had said, "It was one of the greatest privileges I had." He completed high school at the Benedictine Holy Cross Abbey School in CaƱon City, Colorado, excelling in many interests, particularly football. A severe sports injury his senior year sidetracked recruitment and a promising college career. Upon graduation, he joined the Navy, serving his country in Pensacola, Florida, and Okinawa, Japan. Lewis was particularly proud of his service and association in Transport Operations with the Blue Angels Precision Flying Squadron. After military service, he attended the University of Montana and, later, fulfilling his yearn for travel, became involved in OTR trucking. With this experience, Lewis established his own carrier business known as "Little Louie's LTL Express."

Forever the amateur pundit, he left no questions regarding his stance on issues of the day and understood fully the privilege and opportunity of being an American citizen. During his life, Lewis had several addresses from Tampa to San Diego and one of his favorite lines was "home is where you hang your hat." His home in Billings was certainly his favorite retreat.

Lewis was preceded in death by his parents. His immediate survivors are his siblings, Mary Jeanne Haumesser, Marilyn Card (Mike), Bill Rector (Darlene) and John Rector (Margo). Lewis particularly appreciated the friendship and assistance of Deb Edelman, Bob Reid, and Bob Woolsey.

Services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 3, at St. Patrick Co-Cathedral, 215 N. 31st St., with interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens to be held at a later date.
