Linda Maria Lohman passed to her heavenly life on June 9, 2016, at RiverStone Hospice Home in Billings. Linda will be remembered for the strong faith, integrity and authenticity she demonstrated throughout her life. She embodied grace, kindness and peace, even to the end. She will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched, especially her loving family and devoted friends.
Linda was born in Butte on Jan. 29, 1947. She grew up enjoying time in the country with her immediate family and many cousins. She attended St. Ann's Grade School and Girls' Central High School. As a Sister of Charity of Leavenworth for 18 years, she earned her bachelor's and master's degrees while she worked in various schools. Linda devoted her life to the education and counseling of thousands of students: at inner city schools in Kansas, Billings Central, Riverside Middle School and, until retirement, at Billings West High School. Linda was very devoted to her students, always encouraging them to focus on academics and prepare for college and successful lives.
Linda loved her collections of stamps, Precious Moments and bluebirds, and enjoyed practicing yoga. She tended a lovely flower garden and gained most joy from her beautiful peonies. She regularly cooked soup for the homeless at the local shelter. Exceedingly generous, Linda took much care to send the perfect gift and most thoughtful card for every occasion to everyone in her wide circle of family and friends. Even as the number of nieces and nephews increased, she never missed a birthday, first communion, graduation or other milestone in their lives. Her life work and daily values showed us that there is always time to care about others and give back to the community. Linda brought out the best in everyone she knew and left the world a better place.
Linda was preceded in death by her mother, Bernadine. She is survived by her loving father, Dr. John Lohman; sisters Mary Ann (Don) Phillip, Julie (Tom) Zahn, Jackie (Scott) Smith; five nieces, five nephews, four great-nieces, two great-nephews, one aunt and numerous cousins.
Funeral Mass will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Billings. Cremation has been performed by Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary. Ashes will be interred in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Butte at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 18.
