Linda Marie McDonald, 77, passed away on Nov. 3, 2022, in Billings, surrounded by family. Linda was born on May 25, 1945, in Sidney, to Lucille and Gilman Foss. She lived there until graduating from Sidney High School in 1963.

She attended the University of Montana along with her high school sweetheart, Ken McDonald. They were married on June 30, 1966 in Sidney. After graduating from UM, she and Ken lived in Virginia and California while he was in the Marines. They also lived in Oregon before settling in Billings to raise their family.

Linda was involved in every aspect of her children’s lives. She was a Sunday School teacher, Scout leader, PTA coordinator, team mom and head chauffeur, among other things. She was the ultimate caregiver and thoroughly enjoyed taking care of us all. Her family was her number one priority and she was the epitome of “what happens at grandma’s stays at grandma’s.” Her grandkids meant the world to her and she loved them beyond measure.

Linda loved spending time with her family at the cabin in Silver Gate. She enjoyed observing wildlife in Yellowstone Park and had the best eyes for spotting animals. Linda was an accomplished artist and enjoyed painting in the mountains around the cabin. People were always amazed at her talents, although she didn’t share them enough. In her later years, she enjoyed making personalized watercolor cards for her loved ones.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Craig and Stephanie McDonald, Brian and Nikki McDonald and Lisa and Dirk Shulund; her grandchildren, Devin Schrotenboer (Trey), Payton, Morgan, Sinjin, Connor, Nathan, Tyler, Zach, Sloan and Reid; her brother, Phil Foss (Janet Kennington); her sisters, Marilyn Edwards and Pauline Basso (Gary); her brother and sister-in-law, Bud and Marlene Sommer of Denver; several nieces and nephews, and many special family members and close friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Linda’s life was filled with her grandchildren's sports and activities.  If you wish to send a memorial, one can be made in her name to the youth sport or activity of your choice.

Memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary, 1001 Alderson Ave.
