Lloyd Wallace Johnson

Lloyd Wallace Johnson was born in Lincoln, Nebraska on May 26, 1928, the son of Walter R. and Flora (Wallen) Johnson. He was preceded in death by his older brother, Walter Richard Johnson, Jr. who died at the age of 12.

On June 3, 1944, Lloyd enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served on the U.S.S. Bergen, APA 150 as a member of the deck force and as a landing craft coxswain. Lloyd received his honorable discharge in July, 1946 and returned to Omaha to finish High School. He remained in the inactive Navy Reserve for an additional five years.

In 1953, Lloyd graduated from Creighton University with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. He won the Beta Alpha Psi National Accounting Fraternity Scholarship award for graduating with the highest grade point average among accounting majors.

Lloyd always felt his most important accomplishment was winning the hand of Delores Hudson. Lloyd and Dee were married October 10, 1949. They lived in Omaha, NE and Minneapolis, MN where Lloyd worked as a CPA for large accounting firms. In 1973 they moved to Billings, where he became a CFO in private accounting until his retirement.

Lloyd loved sports. He attended many major league baseball games, including two seventh games of the World Series. As a young adult, he played fast pitch softball and also enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing and golf. He was a member Yellowstone Country Club for forty years. He had three "Holes in One".

Lloyd dearly loved his family. He is survived by Dee, his wife of sixty-five years, his son Wayne (Fran) of New Richmond, OH, his daughter Ellie Johnson (Paul Conrad) of Whitefish, MT, his grandchildren - Melissa (Travis) Schara of Kalispell, MT, Kaylene (Jim) Cavin of Portland, OR, Bethany (Andy) Brockman of Chattanooga, TN, Nathan Johnson of Livingston, MT, Seth (Clarissa) Johnson of Waynesville, OH, Ethan Johnson of Nashville, TN, and ten great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 10 am, Thursday, August 27 at the Billings Church of Christ on Tenth and Alderson Street. A military service will be held at the Yellowstone National Cemetery at 12 noon. A reception will follow at the Morningstar Independent Living Center at Central and Shiloh at 2-4 pm.
