On the morning of Jan. 6, 2017, while snuggled in his mother's arms and surrounded by his loving family, Logan Tye Pipkin changed his address to heaven, leaving his tired, sick body behind and joining Trek, his older brother.
He was born on March 15, 1993, in Billings, to Walter and Jamie (Collard) Pipkin. He is the youngest of five children.
His mom remembers Tye as a busy boy with no fear. He could often be found enjoying the outdoors and looking for his beloved rocks and crystals. He spoke of his time in the Pryor Mountains as being some of his favorites.
As an adult, Tye was a very complex and deep thinker. He loved philosophy, science and sharing his favorite quotes to get people to think outside the box.
Recently, Erin's Hope Project awarded Tye a cruise with his family. They explored the Mayan Ruins, zip lined through the jungle, went tubing through crystal caves, snorkeled in the Atlantic Ocean around Belize, and crossed many items off Tye's bucket list.
Tye is survived by his parents; siblings, Tanner (Rae), Kori (Mathew S. Caudill), and Trevor (Kendra); nephews, Trenton and Tagen; and nieces, Brooklyn, Iliana and London, all of Billings. He is also survived by his maternal grandfather, Dean (Katie) Collard of Monticello, Utah.
Tye was preceded in death by his brother, Trek; maternal grandmother, Dale Collard; and his paternal grandparents, Paul and Thelma Pipkin.
Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary, 1001 Alderson Ave. Another viewing will be from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, with the funeral starting at 10 a.m., at the LDS Church, 1640 Broadmoor Drive in Billings Heights. Interment will be held at the Yellowstone Valley Memorial Park.
A special thank you to Billings Clinic Inpatient Oncology, Erin's Hope Project, RiverStone Hospice, Dr. Gregory and Tye's many supportive friends who reached out with caring words, thoughts and prayers.
