Lois E. Young

Lois E. Young, 89, passed away Monday, April 5, 2021, at home, surrounded by her family, and with her little dog Jack by her side.

Lois was born in Morrill, Nebraska, on Jan. 26, 1932, to Earl and Mable Read. She was the oldest of three children. Her mother passed away very early in her life. Lois helped to raise her siblings and was a loving caregiver to many additional young people through the years. Lois attended school in Pavilion, Wyoming. She met and married Charles W. White in 1947. Together, they had three children, Thomas, Jerry and Sally. His work took them all over the U.S. while Lois set the standard for being a mother and homemaker.

After settling in Kemmerer, Wyoming, Lois and Charles divorced in 1969. Lois went on to work for JC Penney's #1 store in Kemmerer as a salesclerk. It was there that she met Howard Young. Howard and Lois were married in 1969. With this union, Lois gained five more children: Butch, Angela, Victor, Alvin and Evan. Howard's work also took them to many places, including Rock Springs, Wyoming, where Lois worked a JC Penney's #2 store. The couple found a mutual love for dancing, especially square and round dancing. Eventually, they settled in Billings. It was here that Lois found her passion for quilting, and her work was exquisite. When she wasn't quilting, she was cooking. She loved big family dinners and hosting holidays.

Lois and Howard attended Rimrock Baptist Church for several years, gaining many friendships. They later attended Emmanuel Baptist Church, where they enjoyed the senior groups. This is also where Lois found support and fellowship after Howard's passing in 2006.

As her health declined, she was cared for by her daughter Sally. This allowed her to remain at home, where she wanted to be.

Lois touched many lives with her loving and caring nature. She guided her family to Christ and we find comfort knowing that He has welcomed her home with open arms.

She was preceded in death by both parents; siblings William E. Read and Shirley M. (Read) West; first husband, Charles W. White; husband Howard Young; and son Charles Thomas White.

She is survived by her children, Jerry F. White and Sally M. Lashley; Howard's children Butch, Angela, Victor, Alvin, Evan and their families; grandchildren, Dan White (Bridgette), Matt White (Mary), Charlie Lashley (Ashley), Abby Zeiler (Abe), Marnie and Cefus; great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Tim, Jade, Christa, Kisa, Ryder, Amaya and many more; other numerous family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriners Children's Hospital.
