Lola Hankel Berlinsky passed away Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2016, at St. John's Lutheran Home, at the age of 92. She was born on March 10, 1923, in Billings, the second of six children, to Earl and Martha Love.
After attending Billings Senior High, she married Norbert Fode, moved to California and, together, they had one son, Dennis. They later divorced, and she moved back to Billings, met and married Jacob Hankel, Jr. "Jack." They had three children: Sharon, Larry and Marlene. Jack passed away in November of 1968. She later married Paul Berlinsky.
She is preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Lorine; one brother, Lyle; Norbert Fode, Jacob Hankel, Jr., and Paul Berlinsky.
She is survived by son Dennis Fode; daughter Sharon Creek (Jerry); son Larry Hankel (Marge); daughter Marlene Janich (Don); 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Loretta Lustig, Leona Wiberg, Lavina Ellis (Ron); sister-in-law Erna Love; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lola loved playing bingo, was an avid animal lover, and kept busy collecting and operating her secondhand store.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary, 1001 Alderson Ave. Lunch will follow at the Elks Club.
The family suggests memorials be made to Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter.
