Marcella Louise(Van-Elsen) Erdmann, 75, died peacefully on May 5, 2016, at home with her family by her side. Born to John and Monica Van-Elsen, the family traveled extensively until their father’s untimely passing in 1951. Marcella was preceded in death by her parents, her brother John, her son Steven, grandson William Robert and niece Hollie. Marcella is survived by her beloved husband “Bill” of nearly 58 years, the love of her life, her son Mitch and spouse Rosemary, son Billy, daughter-in-law Shirley, her sister Rose Marie Brink, sister-in-law Karen (Ray)Carl and uncle Bud Rist as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and wonderful friends.
Raised in Montana, Marcella created many memories for both her family and friends. She loved being a “mom”, as evidenced by her cooking, camping, gardening, canning, hiking, fishing, enjoying all of this with her family and friends. She loved her “home in the hills”, everyone was welcome, she filled it with love and laughter. Nothing gave her more pleasure than her boys and their friends playing guitars, and singing into the wee hours. She also loved vacationing with Bill as they traveled to Scotland, Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico and to the Caribbean. She possessed a special love for animals who would always find a home (and food) with her. Marcella was everything we could have asked for as a Mom, Grandma, GG and friend. We will miss her dearly.
The Erdmann family would like to graciously thank everyone that helped care for Marcella. The doctors, nurses, the close friends that showed their unwavering love for Marcella. Memorials in Marcella’s name may be made to Rocky Mountain Hospice in Billings, MT.
