Mariann Mikes, a loving wife, caring mother and generous friend, passed on May 2, 2017, likely due to a pulmonary embolism.

Mariann, 64, was born on Jan. 20, 1953, to Fabian and Irene (Sailor) Breitbach in Circle. She received her education in Circle, going on to graduate from Carroll College with a degree in medical records administration. She married her best friend Andy Mikes on June 28, 1975, and lived in Billings. Mariann worked at Sears until she and Andy moved to Kansas, where they lived from 1978 until 1983, where Andy managed home-centers. Their two sons, Shane and Derick, were born in Kansas. Moving back to Billings, Mariann ran an in-home day-care for 17 years, taking care of over 300 kids across the years. She then worked for the Billings School District until the time of her passing.

Mariann was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her five siblings, Paul, Pat, Rose, Perry and Dee; her uncle, William Breitbach; her husband, Andy Mikes; her sons, Shane (Elisabeth) and Derick (Lindsey); two granddaughters, Mae and Des; and many nephews and nieces.

Mariann loved to knit and socialize with her friends in the neighborhood, church and Cum Christo group.

Casket is open for visitation from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 6, and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 7, at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary, 1001 Alderson Ave. A vigil for Mariann will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 10, at St. Pius X Church, 717 18th St. West. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, with a luncheon following.
