Marie Fiscina was born in Brooklyn, New York, on May 28, 1946. She grew up there with her parents, Joe and Louise, and her younger brother, Joe. After high school, Marie worked as a secretary in Manhattan, and the start of her career was born. Her work in the secretarial field led her to marital law, which was a passion of hers. Marie was an advocate for children, and thrilled at the chance to help mothers seek financial support for their families.

In 1971, Marie became a mom to Marie Clare, a year later had Christine, and in 1973 rounded out her motherhood with her son, Marty. For most of her adult life, Marie was a single mom, working tirelessly to provide for her three children, often holding multiple jobs at a time to give them the best lives she could. Marie was determined that her children would pursue their dreams … that was her greatest wish for them. When Marie became a grandma, her life held even more meaning. Her six grandchildren, Jessica, Joe, Jake, Kinsey, Maisy and Decklin, and her two great-grandsons, Brady and Sawyer, brought the most joy to her life. Marie loved everything about each one of them — from their tiny little fingers to their tiny little toes. Her grandchildren will always remember Grandma for being (in their words) thoughtful, caring, funny, fiery, determined, loyal, and having chutzpah.

Marie is survived by her brother, Joe and Anna; children, Christine and Joe & Marty and Katie; and her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, many cousins and friends, including her two lifelong friends, Lynn Allen and Eileen Halek.

Marie loved feeding a crowd, a natural trait that stemmed from her Italian heritage. She loved traveling, from the family trips all around America with her children and grandchildren to the cruises she took with her brother and sister-in-law. Those Marie met were one of two kinds of people. Those she loved and those she “had no use for.” She spoke her mind and even when we might not have always liked what she had to say, there was usually some truth to it. Knowing that Marie … Mom … Grandma would have wanted to be with us longer, we realize she will be there, guiding us always to be our very best selves.

Mom — thank you for your unconditional love, for all you sacrificed to give us a step up in this world. We are who we are because you loved us.
