Marion Grainger Profile Photo

Our wonderful and loving wife and mother passed on to her well earned place in Heaven on March 25, 2008. May she rest in peace and look forward to walking with Christ our Lord.

Marion was born in Sneyd Green, Hanley, England on March 20, 1927. Her and her husband Don were married in Cobridge, England August 16, 1945. Marion came to the USA as a war bride on the Queen Mary to settle in Miles City, Montana where two children were born, Brian and Barbara. The family moved to Billings where she bore a daughter Debra.

Her life in Billings was made full by being a Cub Scout Den Mother, Girl Scout Leader, President of Paraplegic Assoc., Member of Rotarians, Treasurer for her Women’s Guild, and a staunch and lasting member of the first congregation of St. Stephens Episcopal Church.

Marion touched many lives as a survivor of the polio epidemic in 1953. Her strength and determination was a beacon for all.

Her survivors are her husband, son and two daughters, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Mr. Grainger, Brian and Families, I am so sorry to hear of Mrs. Grainger’s passing and I am sorry that I didn’t know of this sooner. The love and dedication of your family to God and toward each other was something I always admired. Mrs. Grainger was such an inspiration to so many for all of the work she did to help others. Mr. Grainger, I will always remember your kindness when I worked for you (and worked with Brian) at Winter Hardware. You were an inspiration to me. Brian, I still use some of the recipes you taught me at your cooking class! I strived to treat my employees with the kindness and generosity that you extended to me. Shawn, my Son, still talks about “Camping out at Winter Hardware” when it was month-end and all the reports had to be run back to back. You allowed me to bring him to work on those long days. Thank you, Grainger family. You are always in my thoughts and prayers. Tara Lee Holwegner-Bertucci Reno, NV

I am sorry to hear about Marian. She was a special person. My thoughts and prayers are with you. May God walk with you. Shalom! Jean Porter
