Marjorie K. Hansen Sept. 8, 1923 — March 23, 2019

Marjorie Hansen died peacefully on Saturday, March 23, surrounded by family, at West Park Village in Billings. She was preceded in death by her husband, Christian A. Hansen; her parents, Asa A. and Alice Wolfe; and her brother John Wolfe. She is survived by her children, Karen Elsen (Douglas), Carl Hansen (Ginger Gier), Allen Hansen (Suzidee) and Elizabeth Hansen; her grandchildren, Emily Messa (Christian), Stephen Elsen (Petra), Patrick Hansen (Cynthia) and Derek Hansen; and by her six great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Blake Messa, Abraham and Alexandra Elsen, and Elisa and Annika Hansen; as well as by her siblings Mildred Burns, Ina Westbrook and Charles Wolfe (Patricia).

Marjorie "Marge" was born in Iowa City, Iowa, on Sept. 8, 1923, the third child born to Asa and Alice Wolfe. She spent her formative years in McCook, Nebraska, and graduated from McCook High School at the age of 16. Determined to go to nurses' training, but at the age of 16 too young to be admitted, she attended McCook Junior College for two years.

Achieving her dream of going to nurses' training in 1942, she studied at Children's Hospital in Denver, graduating in 1945. A short time later, while waiting to ship out to Panama with the Nurses' Corps, Marge met a young army 1st lieutenant just returning from the war in the Pacific. That soldier, Christian A. Hansen, swept her off her feet, and three months later, on Jan. 9, 1946 they were married in Sidney.

Marge is remembered for the hundreds of lives she helped bring into this world as an obstetrics nurse in the early parts of her career and those she helped to leave this earth, as a hospice nurse at the end of her career. During those years, she knitted hundreds of preemie caps. She was also an active member of PEO in Sidney and later PEO and DAR in Billings after she and Chris moved there in 1968. Marge also enjoyed membership in the Sons of Norway and at Pella Lutheran Church in Sidney and at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Billings.

Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, July 1, at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 1108 S. 24th St. West. Her cremated remains will be placed next to her husband Christian at Fort Harrison Veteran Cemetery the following day.
