With heavy hearts, the family of Marjorie Lee (Day) Brothwell, age 95 of Billings, Montana, wishes to announce her peaceful departure to be with her Lord and Savior the evening of December 28th, 2024.

Marjorie was born on December 9, 1929 to Clair and Bertha Day. She was the middle child of three children and grew up on a farm in Wyoming. In 1951 she married the love of her life, Roy Eugene Brothwell.  She often told the story of meeting him for the first time in elementary school and announcing that someday she would “marry that boy”.  She had a good eye for quality even then as their marriage lasted their entire lives until Roy passed away in 2010. Roy and Marjorie had 3 children and moved several times in line with his 20 year military career.  When Roy retired, they settled in Billings, MT and served actively in their church (Faith Evangelical Church) as well as Gideons International.  Most recently Marjorie was a member of Rocky Mountain Community Church.

Capitalizing on her eye for quality and her love for sewing, Marjorie took a part time position at Northwest Fabrics (later Hancock Fabrics) and thoroughly enjoyed advising shoppers on their choices.  For her, she said, it was like working in a candy store and she joked that she almost made enough to pay for all the fabric she bought.  Even after her retirement, her sewing room at home often had her 4 machines busily humming along surrounding a half-skirted mannequin. Along with her love of sewing, Marjorie always enjoyed a good book and often had several in process at the same time.  That inquisitive nature stayed with her all of her life.

Marjorie dearly loved the Lord from an early age and she knew the Scriptures well.  Her life modeled that love and she was actively involved in Bible studies much of her adult life.  She continued that practice when she moved to Westpark Senior Living Center in 2018, participating in several study and prayer gatherings as well as leading a breakfast devotional for her table each morning.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roy, her son Roy Edwin and one daughter Tonya. She is survived by one daughter, Marjean (Steve) Parliament of Omaha, NE, a daughter-in-law Carina Brothwell of Billings, MT, a son-in-law Ken Bergdoll of Thornton, CO, 5 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Services will be held at Rocky Mountain Community Church (2832 Broadwater) in Billings, MT on Saturday, January 11 at 10AM.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Gideons International (www.Gideons.org or P.O. Box 140800, Nashville, TN 37214-0800.)
