Marjorie (Briggs) Halvorson, 99, passed away Tuesday evening, March 15, 2016, in Billings.
She was born on Sept. 18, 1916, in Conrad, to Paul and Anna (Cooper) Briggs. She graduated from Teton County High School in 1934. Marjorie and Walter Halvorson, originally of Cut Bank, were married on June 4, 1939 in Shelby. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Pendroy, Mont., where they farmed until 1978, when they retired and moved to Choteau. She worked for the J. A. Swanson Agency for many years and was a member of the Pendroy Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Walter; sister Ethel Lindseth of Dupuyer; brother William Briggs of Conrad; and granddaughter Patricia Ann Halvorson. Survivors include sons, Bill and his wife Katie Halvorson of Georgetown Lake, and Jim and his wife Diana Halvorson of Billings; grandchildren Bill (Amala) Halvorson of Houston, Texas, and Kathleen (Jonathan) Dory of Pearland, Texas, and one great- granddaughter, Shannon Rose Dory. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was known affectionately to them as "Aunt Bob."
Cremation has taken place and, at her request, no services are planned. Graveside service will take place in Choteau at a later date.
