“The greatest Granny in the world”, left those that loved her the most way too soon on May 25th, 2016.
Marletta was born August 15th, 1962 to Ernest and Erika Ward in Anaconda MT. She was the youngest of 4 children. Marletta was twelve years younger than her nearest sibling. As a child she grew up in a 2 bedroom shack with few modern amenities. This upbringing made her want to better her life and gave her the drive to do her best at whatever ventured her way.
In 1979, she was given the blessing of her one and only child, Jim. After Jim, was born she knew she wanted to do whatever possible to give him a childhood and a life that was better than her own. She finished school, worked multiple jobs, and was able to earn her degree in accounting from the Helena College of Technology. With that degree she was able to start her long career in banking.
In 1986, she met her soulmate Mark Scharosch. They completed each other, balancing the other out both strong in mind and soul, yet so tender in love. After many years of careful consideration, they married on June 26th, 1999.
In 2006, Marletta entered her favorite phase of life…she became a grandmother. Her “loves” as she referred to her grandbabies encompassed her life. She was so proud of all three of them. She made sure that they were the priority in her life. Attending programs, games, performances and competitions to always show her love and support of them.
Marletta left us too soon but she left us with our hearts full of her love. She became quick easy friends with everyone she met. She modeled strength, love, courage and hope. Her amazing spirit could easily change the mood of a room. When she was fighting and struggling the most she would still offer up a smile. Her examples will grace generations through her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her loving husband Mark, her son and his wife Jim and Jennie Bixby, her beloved grandchildren Cianne, Benjamin and Annika Bixby, her “adopted” son and his wife James and Brenda Johnson and their children Emma and Graham, brother Don Ward and his family.
She is proceeded in death by her brother Terry Ward, sister Corinda Ward and her parents Ernest and Erika Ward.
Memorials in Marletta’s name may be sent to Valley Federal Credit Union.
