Martha Deines Bangert, 90 of Billings, went to be with her “Lord and Savior” on December 3, 2008, after enduring a courageous battle with Alzheimer's. Martha was born June 5, 1918 in Billings, the eighth child of George and Katherina Deines. She grew up with her 12 brothers and sisters in the Billings Hesper and Grand Avenue areas. She attended the Canyon Creek School, graduating from the eighth grade. She was proud of the fact that she eventually obtained a high school diploma. She loved to read and learn. Martha always credited her parents for their teachings of serving the Lord, hard work, and the love of music.
Martha married Fred Bangert on December 6, 1936. They farmed until 1948. Her first job away from the family was with Home Bakery and later she worked for JC Penney’s. In 1953, they formed “Bangert Quality Homes” where she was a bookkeeper, designer and painter.
In 1981, Martha and Fred retired and moved to Arizona. She enjoyed her garden, flowers, horse races and the many visits from friends and relatives. After Fred passed away in 1994, she returned to Billings to be closer to her family.
Martha was preceded in death by her husband Fred Bangert; son Dean Bangert; grandson Timothy Bangert; her parents and eight siblings. Survivors include two daughters, Alice Blasdel (Dennis Strand) Somers, MT and Debbie Cuculich of Modesto, CA; son Larry Bangert (Trula) Temecula, CA; daughter-in-law Donna Bangert of Bridger; 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grand child. Also, surviving are 3 sisters, Bertha Popp, Sarah Popp, Clara Lambrecht and one brother, Ben Deines.
Martha’s true passion was serving the Lord and her beloved family. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend. Her kindness and compassion will be missed by all who knew her. Even in her declining years, she remained thankful and loved her Lord.
Her family would like to give special thanks to St. John’s Lutheran Home and their wonderful staff in the care of their mother. All the special hugs, love and kindness given to her will always be remembered.
Donations may be given to St. John’s Lutheran Home (Garden Court), 3940 Rimrock Rd. Billings, MT 59102 or Messiah Lutheran Church, 2939 Colton Blvd., Billings, 59102.

Sending condolences to the entire family. Martha and Fred were a great part of my early childhood. One of my fondest memories was when our families went to Yellowstone park camping. I saw real bears and caught my firt fish. She shall not be forgotten Jeanette (Walter) Schroeder
