Mary Patricia (Archambault) Hammerbeck (97) died January 29, 2014 at RiverStone Hospice House. She was born in Superior, WI on December 6, 1917 to Helen (Francis) and Hildafe Roch Archambault. She had one brother, Francis. Pat attended Catholic schools and graduated as salutatorian of her 1934 class. She then attended Superior State Teachers College graduating in 1938. Her first teaching assignment was in Land of Lakes, WI. She was married to Glen Holbrook Hammerbeck on September 12, 1940. During WW2, Pat worked in the shipyard's business office in Superior. After Glen's discharge from the Marines, they moved to Billings, MT. Pat was employed by Stroup Hardware as a bookkeeper for 17 years and then Empire Motors for 22 years. She was a member of St Elizabeth's Circle, the Altar Guild, and Eucharistic Ministers at St. Thomas Catholic Church; and AAUW.

She retired in 1982. After retirement, Pat volunteered at St. Vincent's Cherry Nook Café until it closed: and then in rehab in filing and records. For 15 years she helped in the reading program at Garfield School. She was a wonderful cook, famous for her "sticky bums", enjoyed playing bridge, was an avid football fan and told wonderful stories.

Pat is survived by sister-in law LaVonne Hammerbeck, Billings, MT; brother-in-law Herman and Kay Hammerbeck, Superior, WI; sister-in-law, Peggy Doig, Duluth, MN, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen, in 1979, brother, Francis Archambault; brother-in-laws, John Hammerbeck, Walter Moe, Will Doig, Ray Melhus, and Donald Morton; sister-in-laws, Evelyn Archambault, Alta Moe, and Betty Ann Melhus.

A Wake will be Sunday at 1:30 at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary. The Funeral Mass will be Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle church with Rite of Committal in Holy Cross Cemetery.
