In Loving Memory of Maureen Elizabeth Moloney Ille: A Life Celebrated

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Maureen Moloney Ille, a beloved Mom/Mimi who departed from this world on Feb. 18, 2024. She left behind a legacy of love, kindness and strength that will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Maureen was born on May 22, 1948, in Monte Vista, Colorado, to Donald and Olive Moloney. From an early age, it was evident that she possessed a love for family and a maternal nature. Immediately after graduating from Thorton High School, Denver, Colorado, Maureen packed up and moved to Washington, D.C., to work for the FBI for a short while. It wasn’t long after that she returned to Colorado to start the family she always wanted. Maureen and the family made Billings their forever home in 1974.

Throughout her life, our Mom/Mimi dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her family and friends. She selflessly devoted herself to ensuring the happiness and wellbeing of those she held dear by unconditionally supporting our interests and passions. She traveled near and far (and often!) to celebrate births, graduations, weddings and holidays. She had the amazing ability to juggle all of this while working full-time at Norwest Capital Management/Wells Fargo Bank before retiring after 25-plus years. Her door was always wide open for her family and friends to come and visit. So many fond memories were made during our visits to Montana as we spent those special, priceless days with her.

In addition to dedicating her life to her family, Maureen truly loved growing flowers and vegetables. She was an avid reader and enjoyed book clubs. Her Catholic faith was a bedrock in her life. She loved giving back to her church through the St. Rose of Lima Circle. Wherever she went, she greeted everyone with her beautiful smile and warmth.

Maureen/Mimi will be deeply missed by her sweet husband of 25 years, Robert Ille; and her children and grandchildren: Audrey (Marvin) Skinner, Eric (Colleen), Matthew (Darby) and Mitchell (Haley); Aaron (Christy) Scifres, Emma and Mia; Anissa Hickey, Ethan and Andrew, and Jon Ille. She is survived by her five loving siblings: Douglas (Cheri) Moloney, Moira Ivey, Kathleen Bernhardt, Brian (Gail) Moloney and Pauline (Jim) Freudenberg; and many nieces and nephews.

As we bid farewell to our sweet Mimi, we find solace in the countless cherished memories we shared with her. May her soul rest in eternal peace, watching over us knowing that her love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

A vigil will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 7, at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary, 1001 Alderson Ave. A funeral mass to celebrate our beloved Maureen/Mimi will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 8, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 2055 Woody Drive. Please join us for a luncheon in the Parish Center at St. Thomas. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery after luncheon.
