On Sunday, Feb. 3, 2019, Michael "Meko" Allen Hegg passed away in his home at the age of 70. Michael was born on Jan. 6, 1949, in Billings, to Roy and Irene Hegg. He grew up in Billings, graduating from Senior High. Michael pursued a career as the supervisor of the universal dark room at the Billings Gazette, where he worked from 1970 to 2011.
Michael was twice married. He and Ardella Kanning had a daughter, Margie Hegg. He and Vanessa Anderson Hegg had two children, Logan Hegg and Sophie Magnuson. He was a constant source of advice and wisdom for his children. His presence in their lives will be greatly missed.
Michael enjoyed many outdoors activities, including four- wheeling, grouse hunting and spending time soaking in hot springs around Montana. He was passionate about good food, lively music, better spirits and enjoyed hosting dinners for family and friends. Michael was always sharing stories and making others around him laugh with his jokes. Some of his best memories were made at the ballpark with family and friends watching the Mustangs play.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, Roy Hegg; mother, Irene Hegg; brother, Tim Hegg; and former wife Vanessa Anderson Hegg.
Michael is survived by his children, Margie Hegg (Paul Brockman), Logan Hegg, Sophie (Chris) Magnuson; grandchildren Rhys and Liam Brockman and Gabriel Magnuson; and countless dear friends.
Cremation has taken place. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary, 1001 Alderson Ave., in Billings. There will be a small gathering following the service at 11:30 a.m. at UberBrew.
