Michael E. Thorne

Michael E. Thorne passed away on Oct. 17, 2014, in Bismarck. Michael was born in Bismarck on Feb. 29, 1972. He spent his entire life in the restaurant business and was an amazing chef for some of the finest places in Colorado, North Carolina, Georgia and Billings. Michael's family commented: Michael's family always loved him and wanted the best for him. He was an amazing chef, father, friend, brother, and son. Michael made many unforgettable memories with his cousins and will be forever in their hearts. "He loved his kids but wasn't able to see them very much and wanted them to know that he always thought of them and wanted the best for them. He was a funny, caring, big-hearted, warm person, who always showed love as much as he could." Michael is survived by his children, Skylar and Liam, Atlanta, Ga.; his father, Larry, Billings; his brother, Richard (Alicia), Billings; grandmother, Marge Thorne, Bismarck; his uncles, aunts and cousins; two special cousins, Kylee and Kelsey Dietz; and special nephew, Anthony Thorne. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sharon A. Thorne; and his grandparents, Waldo and Aileen Carlson. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 2, at Yellowstone Valley Memorial Park, 3605 Grand Ave, followed by a memorial service with video presentation at 12 noon at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary.
