Muriel Mitchell, 90, of Billings passed away on Feb. 17, 2019, while under Hospice Care in Helena.
Muriel was born on July 11, 1928, in Billings, to Edmund and Margaret (Wilson) Benesh. She graduated from Billings Senior High School. After high school, she worked at Snook Art, where she would meet her future husband.
She married Berne Mitchell on Feb. 7, 1948, and soon thereafter she went to work at Security Bank (now First Interstate Bank). She worked her way up in the bank, beginning as a teller and retiring as a Bank Officer, all while raising her four children.
Muriel was a voracious reader and she loved to garden and grow beautiful flowers. She and Berne were fortunate to winter in Arizona for over 20 years. Together, they traveled throughout the United States and she loved a good road trip!
Muriel and Berne were charter members of Central Christian Church. She was very involved in all the activities of the church, including the Christian Women's Fellowship and the church book sale. She loved her church family.
Muriel is survived by her children Larry (Becky) Mitchell of Helena; Connie Moratelli of Helena; Jim Mitchell of Corvallis, Oregon; and Kathy (Pat) Ives of Billings; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Berne; her parents; three brothers; and son-in-law John Moratelli.
